The lake is so beautiful. You love this lake; you love the streams that fill it. And sitting next to this lake you close your eyes. Head tilted towards the sun.
And then there is a strange feeling, a sense of motion. It happens so fast. SPLASH!!
You are shocked. What just happened?! You are soaked. What are you soaked in?
At this moment, you are soaked in information.
What, how, why, when, questions are dripping all over you. Some of these questions get in your eyes. You can’t see. You shake your head. You can’t even really hear right. The thoughts in your head become really short, No. What? No. Really?
You feel cold. Confused. Like, is the sky really starting to fall? What happened?
Your mind is struggling to gain clarity, but thoughts are coming in so fast and just like when water disturbed and becomes unclear so is your mind.
And as you are wiping off all of the what, how, why, when, questions off of your body and out of your eyes…you realize there you are.
Slowing the lake starts to return back to stillness. The water begins to clear.
Some of the questions you wipe off of you, getting answers. Other questions, you choose to let go of…like the why questions. Those questions are good questions to just let evaporate.
Not all of the questions have answers and that becomes okay. Because there you are. Standing. Allowing yourself to dry.
You can hear again. You can see again. There is a clarity again.
Ultimately, getting shocked is a gift. You are awake. You are clear. You know now know what you did not know before. And while the experience of awakening can be painful, in the end there is a peace. There is a knowing, it’s going to be okay.
