If a leader is used to working 55-70 hours a week as a way of life, how will they remember what is possible to get done in 40 hours a week?
If a leader sends emails at all hours of the night, what will their team do when they see an email from their boss come across their phone at 10pm?
When a leader tells their team how important work/life balance is or how work/life integration is the new way of being and yet continues their pace, how will the team feel when they try to downshift their pace?
A leaders sets the pace. The more emails a leader sends out, the more emails the leader receives. The more meetings a leader schedules, the less time the leader and their team has to connect with others in the organization who need to see them out and about.
This week just might be a good week to pause and consider what our pace of life is we are living…and what message is being sent to those around us as a result of our life pace.
